SMITH TO ATTEND LAWRENCE TECH
(DEFENSEMEN JOINS NAIA D2 TEAM)
Toledo OH: The Toledo Cherokee members of the NA3HL are proud to announce that defensemen Josh Smith has committed to attend Lawrence Tech University and continue his hockey career with the NAIA D2 team.
Smith spent two seasons with the Cherokee after being acquired in a trade from Pittsburgh prior to last season. The Highland MI native suited up in a total of ninety games for the Cherokee scoring four goals and adding fourteen assists for a total of 18 points in two seasons.
“Josh came to us in a trade last season and fit in real nice with our group and this season really improved his game and was one of our top minute guys on the back end.” Said head coach Kenny Miller
Smith joins a program that finished last season with a record of 20-7 while playing in the WHAC Conference. Lawrence Tech is located in Southfield MI.
“Josh is a really good team guy that will step in and make an impact right away for his new team. I am very excited for Josh and his family as he moves on to the next level.” Added Miller
Smith is the second Cherokee from the 2016-2017 season to announce his commitment he joins Ben Hamilton who announced last week he will be attending Adrian College.
