TOLEDO CHEROKEE HOME THIS WEEKEND
(FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT)
Toledo OH: The Toledo Cherokee return home this weekend to take on the Metro Jets tonight at the Team Toledo Ice House. The Cherokee will then host the Wooster Oilers on Saturday night.
Both games will start at 7:00PM.
“This is a big weekend for us, we have had a good week of practice and now we have to carry that over into the weekend. Our new guys got a taste of what it is like to play in the NA3HL last weekend and they realize you have to be ready to play every night .” Said head coach Kenny Miller
Toledo is coming off a two sweep over the Wooster Oilers where they won the opener 6 – 4 and 7 – 2 on Saturday night at home.
“I thought we played well both days, our game on Saturday we really got the power-play going and that led us to a victory.” Added Miller
EJ Gilbert (Dexter MI) scored five goals for the Cherokee on Saturday night in the 7 – 2 win. Rookie goaltender Adrain Morales (Monroe MI) picked up his first win of the season.

NOTES: The Toledo Cherokee family has lost one of their own this week. Jim Omey the father of associate head coach Todd Omey passed away Tuesday in Dallas Texas while visiting his daughter and her family.
Jim always attended Cherokee games thru the years, he never missed a game when his grandson Kyler played for the team and he continued to come and support the team even after Kyler was done playing two years ago. You could always find Jim sitting in bleachers right across from the Cherokee bench keeping a close eye on what Todd was doing.
The Cherokee ask that you please keep Coach Omey his wife Kristi and kids Kyler and Kelsi in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
RIP Mr. Omey you will be missed by many.
