CHEROKEE WIN TWO OUT OF THREE ON WEEKEND

Toledo OH:         The Toledo Cherokee played three games over the weekend and finished with a 2-1-0 record in NA3HL action.

On Friday at the Team Toledo Ice House the Cherokee skated to a 4-2 victory over the visiting West Michigan Wolves. Ricky Kwapich (Toledo OH) and Ben Hamilton (Toledo OH) each scored a goal and added an assist for Toledo. Darryl Kuchcinski (Lambertville MI) and Nick Nappi (Plant City FL) scored in the win. Tristin Snyder (Oregon OH), Bailey Thompson (Livonia MI) and Teddy Tarvis (St. Charles IL) all had one assist.

Roman Malkov (Yaroslavl RUS) picked up the win in net for the Cherokee making 29 saves.

“I thought we played really well on Friday, we got goals from guys that we expect to score for us and they were finally able to find the back of the net.” Said head coach Kenny Miller

The Cherokee traveled to Pittsburgh to take on the Vengeance both Saturday and Sunday. Toledo dropped the Saturday game by a score of 3-0. Adrian Morales (Monroe MI) made 23 saves for Toledo in goal. The Cherokee went 0-3 on the power-play in the game.

On Sunday the Cherokee picked up their second win of the weekend by a score of 3-2. Snyder scored two goals for Toledo and EJ Gilbert (Dexter MI) scored the game winner with just under five minutes to play in regulation. Dustin Foran (Clinton Twp MI) and Anthony Weinrich (Toledo OH) each had two assists. Brock Grandbois (Tecumseh ON) and Will DelVerne (Sylvania OH) chipped in with one assist. Malkov earned his second win of the weekend making 37 saves.

“We didn’t have much jump Saturday and that’s the reason we didn’t win, on Sunday your guys battled hard and pulled out a much needed win.” Added Miller.

The Cherokee return home this Friday to take on the Southern Tier Xpress. Face off is set for 7:00PM at the Team Toledo Ice House.
