FRISCO, TEXAS – The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending September 11, 2016. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.
East Division Star of the Week: EJ Gilbert, forward, Toledo Cherokee
Toledo forward EJ Gilbert, 18, had a big weekend in a weekend sweep of Wooster as the 6’2/180 lbs. native of Dexter, MI, had eight points, including seven goals in two weekend wins. That included five goals in a 7-2 win on Saturday night. “EJ has the ability to score whenever he is on the ice and he did that this weekend. He and his line mates were able to take over both games this past weekend,” said Cherokee head coach Kenny Miller.
2nd Star: Ricky Kwapich, F, Toledo Cherokee
About the NA3HL
Now in its seventh season, the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), one of six USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior leagues, serves as one of the top training grounds in the country by providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes in its classification. The primary mission of the NA3HL, which is managed organizationally by the North American Hockey League (NAHL), is to provide a structured developmental environment for student-athletes whose youth options are limited but are still reaching their potential and have aspirations of playing in the NAHL or United States Hockey League and eventually the NCAA or American College Hockey Association.
