Toledo OH – The Toledo Cherokee open the NA3HL regular season this weekend when they take on the Wooster Oilers in a home and home series.

The Cherokee will travel to Wooster on Friday September 9th for their first game of the season. Face off is set for 7:45PM.

The two teams will finish up the home and home series on Saturday night at the Team Toledo Ice House. The game will have a special start time of 8:30PM to accommodate GTAHA day at the Ice House.

Toledo which finished second in the East division last year looks to get off to a quick start this year. “Our guys have worked hard during training camp and we are excited to see what we can do against a divisional opponent, we know it will not be easy playing a Wooster team that has already played two games but our group will be up for the challenge.” Said head coach Kenny Miller

The Cherokee have a good group of veteran players returning for the season and look to be led by team captain Tristin Snyder (Oregon OH) as well as last year’s leading scorer Ricky Kwapich (Toledo OH). Ben Hamilton (Toledo OH) and Blake Mullins (Oregon OH) along with Kwapich will  serve as assistant captains. Also returning is goaltender Jeremy Hamerquist (Woodland Park CO), Josh Smith (Highland MI), Nolan Stanley (Boise ID), Darryl Kuchcinski (Temperance MI), Nick Nappi (Plant City FL) and Ethan Resetar (Northville MI)

“Our veterans will have to lead the way early in the season until our younger guys get a feel for the level of play it will take to win on a consistent basis.” Said Miller

Fans attending Saturday’s home game are asked to bring either soap or shampoo for admission into the game. “This is the third year in a row we have asked the fans instead of buying a ticket to the home opener we are asking them to bring soap or shampoo it goes along way with the guys during the season, last season was a huge success and I expect this year to be the same.” added Miller
