Toledo\’s Ricky Kwapich had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team\’s 3-1 win over Wooster.
Kwapich scored at 7:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo and again while on the power play 5:19 into the third to make the score 2-1 Toledo.
Toledo\’s penalty kill excelled, as Toledo gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.
Toledo stifled Wooster\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
Toledo additionally got points from Austin Turner, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Toledo came via David Bogart, Tyler Zalecki, Nikolas Verbosky, and Tristin Snyder, who contributed one each.
Wooster could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.
Wooster was led by Rubin Chavarria, who scored the team\’s only goal. Chavarria scored short handed 15:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Wooster found itself down a man on Mike Ragone\’s roughing. Tyler Houmard picked up the assist.
Glen Bates made 23 saves for Toledo on 24 shots. Toledo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Steven Schmitt recorded 24 saves for Wooster.
