Behind a great game by Ricky Kwapich, who had one goal and three assists, Toledo defeated Wooster, 8-3.
Kwapich scored 8:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toledo. Isaiah Crawford assisted on the tally. Kwapich dished an assist on Tyler Zalecki\’s goal that made the score 3-0 Toledo at 12:52 into the second period. He then added assists on David Bogart\’s goal at 19:58 into the second and on Austin Turner\’s goal at 6:47 into the third.
Wooster\’s nine penalties came back to haunt it, as Wooster let up four goals while on the penalty kill.
Toledo forced Wooster\’s goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 42 shots and forcing 34 saves. Joe Morgan made 24 stops and Ben Luitgaarden made 10. Toledo\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Wooster power plays. Toledo found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Toledo averages 3.8 goals per contest.
Toledo also got points from Bogart, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Zalecki, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Turner, who also had one goal and two assists, and Tristin Snyder, who also registered one goal and one assist. Toledo also got a goal from Daniel Goodwin as well. More assists for Toledo came via Dan Hudy, Ben Hamilton, Nick Nappi, and Ethan Resetar, who contributed one each.
Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
Glen Bates rejected 18 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Wooster incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
