Toledo uses early goal to top Cincinnati, 2-0

Austin Turner gave the Toledo Cherokee the lead in the first period, and the Cincinnati Swords was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

A goal 7:22 into the first period by Turner proved to be the game winner, and powered Toledo to the victory. Dominic Pisanti assisted on the tally.

The Cherokee were led by Turner, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Toledo stifled Cincinnati\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cherokee forced the Swords goalie James Schroeder to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Toledo also got points from Pisanti, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart and Kyler Omey, who contributed one each.

Aaron Callan made 18 saves for Toledo on 18 shots. The Cherokee totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Schroeder rejected 30 shots on goal for Cincinnati. The Swords totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
