The yFlint Junior Generals were firing on all cylinders against the Toledo Cherokee, and when the final buzzer sounded Junior Generals emerged with a 6-0 win.
The Junior Generals racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. yFlint had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Junior Generals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.
yFlint also got points from Conor Durgan, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Zach Koonce also scored for yFlint. More assists for yFlint came via Justin Fisher, who had two and Jordy Makranyi, Nicholas Gnagni, Cody Wright, Brit Brothen, Ryan Burr, and Luke Dmytro, who contributed one a piece.
Toledo was often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and four majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The Cherokee surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Toledo could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Cherokee put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Toledo did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force 10 saves.
yFlint\’s Anders Franke stopped 10 shots out of the 10 that he faced. The Junior Generals registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For yFlint, Gnagni, Durgan, and Chris Skordilis were ejected from the contest. Clay Horvath made 18 saves for the Cherokee on 24 shots. Team\’s David Bogart and Aaron Roschinsky were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
