yFlint survives Toledo comeback, wins 2-1

The yFlint Junior Generals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Toledo Cherokee on the way to a 2-1 win.

yFlint made the score 2-0 on a goal by Mark McGee at 8:18 in the second period, and Toledo got as close as 2-1 when Zachary Armstrong scored 16:22 into the third period.

The Cherokee were stymied by the Junior Generals netminder Anders Franke, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. The solid play of Franke will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.93.

yFlint\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Toledo power plays. The Junior Generals could not produce up to they normal offensive output. yFlint averages 4.7 goals per game. The Junior Generals kept Toledo\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Callan made 39 saves on 41 shots.

yFlint also got points from Justin Fisher, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, yFlint received assists from Josh Koepplinger, Reno de Hondt, and Ryan Burr, who each chipped in one.

Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Tyler Zalecki and Donnie Nagle, who contributed one a piece.

yFlint incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Cherokee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
